We love learning about art and artists at St James'.
Our children learn about different artists and art forms!
They have all been creative and made their own pictures, paintings, collages, 3D structures and more!
Year 1 - Pattern to Print
In Year 1, the children have been looking at famous artists such as Kandinsky and Escher. The children looked at printing patterns using different materials and have re-created Kandinsky's Circles, as well as lots more brilliant pattern work!
Year 2 - Creative Crafts
In Year 2, the children have been studying the patterns and style of William Morris and have compared it to 'Truck' art. Here are some examples of their wonderful work using different media, including sewing!
Year 3 - Picture Me! - Portraits
In Year 3, the children have been focusing on portraits and different artists that have used portraits in their work. They have looked at the work of Leonardo Da Vinci and Frida Kahlo and have produced many fantastic portraits in different styles! They have been working on The Arts Award (Discover) too!
Year 4 - Impressive Impressionists
In Year 4, the children have been studying Impressionism, especially the work by Monet and Renoir. Here are some examples of some of their super Impressionist skills work and paintings.
Year 5 - Lush Landscapes
In Year 5, the children have been learning about Landscapes and Cityscapes.
. They have compared the work of LS Lowry, John Constable and other landscape artist from around the world. They have been working on The Arts Award (Explore) too! Here are some examples of their brilliant landscape art using different media.
Year 6 - Get Creative!
In Year 6, the children have been looking at a variety of abstract artists such as, Picasso, Klimt and many others. They have learnt about the different styles and media that the artists use, and interpreted this to create their own fantastic pictures.
