Welcome to Our Prayer Spaces

We love these fabulous worship resources for home and school from Karen Beal and her team at Manchester Diocese. Click to open and explore.
We have prayer spaces all around our school. You are welcome to share your prayers with us in our virtual prayer space below. |
Inspired by the 'Big Frieze', each class has depicted a part of the story of the Bible through art. We now have a gorgeous display in our cloakroom.
At St James' we recognise the power of prayer and the comfort it brings. It is a time of quiet contemplation, a time to ask for forgiveness, a time of peace and a time to reflect and be thankful. We respect the diversity in our school community. Each week in our Wednesday worship our children and staff are invited to write prayers inspired by the assembly message or simply to sit and think about the theme. These prayers are displayed on our prayer line which stands in our entrance area so that members of our school community and visitors can read them.
You are very welcome to read our school prayer (click on the word prayer above) or share your own prayers and thoughts with us by completing the form below.

Show CommentsDear God, Thank you for our family and friends. Help us to remember that Christmas isn't just about presents and gifts, it's a time for sharing moments with each other - making memories that last a lifetime. It's a time for caring and showing our love to those near and far: caring for our world and all of creation. Amen
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Amen.

Wow! These prayers are really heartwarming, they have been thought about and have been written with hope, generosity and love. Everybody knows that darkness cannot drive out of darkness only light can, hate cannot drive out of hate only love can. And no one should give up, if you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl but whatever you do keep moving forward and don't give up. I am happy that I read these thoughtful prayers and thank you for writing them.
We wrote this prayer when we visited Manchester Cathedral for our Leavers' Service. Dear God, Thank you for those who love us and for the people at St. James’ Primary School, Who have cared for us and helped us grow. Give us the strength to always be kind to others, Help us to help those who are less fortunate, And show everyone respect and empathy. Let us remember that we are stronger together than alone, And live in peace and harmony. Amen
Our Leavers' Prayer Dear God, As we prepare to leave primary school, we give thanks to the children, staff and to God for keeping us safe at St James'. Give us the courage to face the changes and challenges that lie ahead. Help us to keep our honesty, joy and integrity in life. As we say goodbye to friends and staff, help us to keep them in our hearts on the journey ahead. Amen
